Seeking Community-Minded Neighbors to Serve on the Mill Creek Village Volunteer Board of Directors

Board of Directors

Mill Creek Village has served Mill Creek Towne seniors and all its residents for more than 10 years as a nonprofit community services organization created by neighbors to help neighbors. Over those years, Village volunteers, neighbors like you, have devoted more than 12,000 service hours to helping keep Mill Creek Towne a caring, informed and socially connected community about which we can all be proud. As we embark on our 11th year of service to residents of our community, we are calling upon other neighbors to lend their skills and talents to help lead our collective community organization into its next decade. Board members serve a two-year term.

Since 2013, our various volunteers have assisted seniors in Mill Creek Towne at no charge more than 1,700 times, published a bi-weekly newsletter more than 225 times, maintained a photo- and resource-filled website, created an informative and growing social media presence, and hosted more than 50 free community-wide social events enjoyed by more than 2,600 participants.

More recently, the Village initiated a “Welcome Wagon” to greet new neighbors, added for 2024 a Family Pool Party to our array of annual events, partnered with Project Porchlight on bringing LED lighting and energy conservation programs to the Towne and will soon initiate tech support services for senior residents. Additionally, new family-oriented programs are under development. It is an exciting time for the Village!

The Village’s good work is driven by the decisions and leadership of its volunteer Board of Directors. These Board members share an appreciation of the importance of “community” to all our lives and general well-being. This very genial and cooperative body meets about six times per year and is currently composed of both working and retired neighbors from a wide array of fields, including education, retail, health care, fitness training, consulting, management, homemaking and more. Among the other things these folks have in common is a willingness to spare some of their valuable time and energy to help keep their neighborhood a desirable place to live, raise a family, make good friends and age well.

With its Annual Meeting scheduled for April 10, 2024, the Mill Creek Village is now seeking nominations from active, community-minded neighbors for service on its Board of Directors. If you are interested and willing to help your own community in this way, please let us know at mctvillage@gmail.com or call us at 240-686-5870. There are no special requirements, other than a commitment to our service mission. After contacting us, we will provide you with a position description and brief questionnaire to help us learn more about you. The questionnaire must be submitted by March 8, 2024. Those who are elected will be announced at the Annual Meeting on April 10th.

Thanks for your consideration! We sincerely hope to hear from you!
