Mill Creek Neighbors Enjoy a Walk Around the Towne and Two Lovely Gardens in the Community on May 20

Walk Around the Towne

On Saturday morning, May 20, 2023, more than 30 Mill Creek Towne neighbors participated in Mill Creek Village’s Annual “Walk Around the Towne.” The group kept a reasonable pace and completed about 5,000 steps before returning to the starting point at Mill Creek Elementary School. Old friends and new acquaintances chatted along the way.

The route included stops at two homes on Dew Wood Drive with exceptional gardens, where wildlife is encouraged to find refuge, native plants flourish, colorful ornaments abound, bees are welcome to pollinate and organic gardening is practiced. The Village provided refreshments and snacks.

The Village conveys its sincere gratitude to Dianna Garvis, Heather Westing, and Susan Laessig for sharing their beautiful and impressive yards with us. These gardeners described their various flora and landscaping and answered questions from their neighbors.

Thanks as well to all those who walked with us, many of whom were kind enough to make donations to the Village to support our efforts to: (1) provide various services to elderly residents in Mill Creek Towne that desire to “age in place” and maintain their independence  and (2) promote a caring and connected  community through several intergenerational events annually like the Walk Around the Towne.

Here are some of the photos taken on the Walk Around the Towne. More photos from this event will soon be posted in the photo gallery on the Gallery page of the Village’s website click here

Our next event, the annual Ice Cream Social, is scheduled for Sunday, July 16, 2023 (National Ice Cream Day) and our annual Picnic is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2023. Please mark your calendars and join us for these fun and friendly events that will help to mark the Village’s 10th Anniversary of community service!
