The Village’s 6th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party was held on Saturday, Mach 16, 2024 attracting more than 30 Mill Creek Town neighbors to a fun evening of good food, good drinks, good music, and good cheer. Many thanks go to our terrific hosts – Robbie and Ed Ludwig – who shared their beautiful home and helped make the event a festive and “craic” (i.e., Irish for a good time).
After a few years’ hiatus from this annual party, the crowd was delighted to welcome back the musical talents of our neighbors – Tracey and Joe Banton – who led a sing-along to several traditional Irish tunes and American folk, blues, and rock songs. Tracey’s lovely voice and Joe’s baritone and slick guitar finger picking were on full display for all to enjoy and engage with.
Village President Joe Isaacs welcomed the crowd and shared the following Irish Wish for Friends and Neighbors that he sent out to all Mill Creek Towne residents.
“Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers,
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours,
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of neighbors and friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through.”
We welcome new neighbors, Alejandra Llontop and Naveed Nadjmabadi, who attended our Irish celebration. We wish them much joy in their new home. We also sang “Happy Birthday” to neighbor Guy Federico, who was celebrating a milestone that evening. It was such a fun time that I (Joe Isaacs) did not remember to take photos until late into the party. But some are appended here. I apologize to those participants that I omitted because they left before my recall kicked in. The photos are attached. Additionally, we extend our good wishes to a few of our regulars who were not able to participate because of health reasons. Get well soon!
Mark your calendars!!! Next up is the Village’s Annual Meeting at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the multi-media room at the Mill Creek Towne Elementary School at 17700 Park Mill Dr., Derwood, MD 20855. Our guest speaker is local historian Ralph Buglass, who is back by popular demand after a terrific presentation last year, entitled “In Search of Historic Derwood” that drew more than 50 participants. This year the theme of hos presentation will be “Beyond the Beaten: Exploring Montgomery County’s Hidden Historical Gems.”
Then at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2024, join us for our annual “Wall Around the Towne.” At the same time, we will be inviting kids (grandkids) from our community to participate in our first “Sharing Positive Messages” event via chalk art drawings on designated driveways on Shady Mill Road. For those in 5th grade or higher, SSL hours for graduation can be earned by participating. Thank you, Katie Becker, for leading on this program. Look for flyers for these events!
