Ralph Buglass, has taught at lifelong learning institutes associated with Johns Hopkins and American universities and Montgomery College. On behalf of Montgomery History, an historical society since 1944, he speaks frequently to community groups and other organizations locally, statewide, and nationally. Last year, his presentation “In Search of Historic Derwood,” drew more than 50 attendees to the Village’s annual meeting and the Village’s recap of it was shared on social media more than 1,600 times. His upcoming talk was the top vote-getter among four possible topics in a recent survey of Mill Creek Towne residents.
“Off the Beaten Path …” is a richly illustrated presentation on many lesser-known spots to visit in our county that have historical importance, amazing natural beauty, and/or are superlative other ways. You will learn about some famous residents’ homes, houses designed by renowned architects, places connected to significant national events, oases of natural splendor, museums every bit as good as those on the National Mall, still-standing relics of our past, and other gems near and far that make our county a special place.
In 2020, with Peerless Rockville, Ralph co-authored “Images of America: Rockville,” a pictorial history of the city’s 250 years. If you did not buy one last year, signed copies of the publication will again be available for purchase (price $20, cash only) at the Annual Meeting.
