- Special Presentation: “Herman Rabbit: The Man, The Money, The Legend and The Legacy” by Sarah Hedlund, Montgomery History Speaker
- Introduction of the Village’s 2026 Board of Directors

Sarah Hedlund
Director of Library and Archives
Sarah joined the staff at Montgomery History in 2016, graduating the following year with a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Maryland, specialization in archives and digital curation. Previous to her position with Montgomery History, she worked as a freelance contract archivist, a graduate assistant archivist for the University of Maryland’s Special Collections and University Archives, and an archival intern in the Archives Center of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. She currently serves as the editor for the historical research journal The Montgomery County Story, for which she has also authored several articles. As the Director of Library and Archives for the Jane C. Sween Research Library and Special Collections, Sarah is committed to making Montgomery History’s resources on local history, genealogy, and community heritage accessible and visible through reference, digitization, online exhibits, publication, and presentation.
Jim Resnick
Senior Outreach Program Manager, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service
Mr. Resnick is the Manager of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Senior Outreach Program. Before taking on his current position, Mr. Resnick served Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service for over 45 years, retiring in 2014 as the Operations Battalion Chief for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.
Jim has been a volunteer member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad since 1975 where he currently serves on the Board of Directors, and as an Operations Master Firefighter. He also worked as a full-time, career firefighter and paramedic for 28 years for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS), retiring with the rank of Battalion Chief in 2014.
In 2016 Jim received the John C. Spiker, Sr Life Safety Educator of the Year award at the Mid-Atlantic Life Safety Conference. In this professional role, Jim has provided educational programs to more than 10,000 Montgomery County seniors on a variety of fire and injury-prevention topics. Also, Jim has completed more than 2,000 home safety and smoke alarms checks, and he has lead teams that have done thousands more.
Jim is a lifelong Montgomery County resident He has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County (UMBC – Go Retrievers!) Jim is a baseball fan with his allegiance split between the Orioles and the Nationals and he likes spending time with family and friends.

Founded in 2013, Mill Creek Village (MCV) is a volunteer-led, 501 (c) 3, tax-exempt, nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to assisting older neighbors (60+ years of age) in Mill Creek Towne to maintain their independence and age well at home. Services include transportation support, grocery shopping, friendly home visits and check-in phone contacts. MCV also fosters community-wide, inter-generational social connection via several annual events like this one.
