Welcome to
Mill Creek Village

Since 2013, Mill Creek Village (MCV) has been a volunteer-led, nonprofit charitable community service organization dedicated to “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” MCV provides services to help older residents (60 years of age and older) in the neighborhood of Mill Creek Towne in Derwood, Maryland to maintain their independence and remain in their homes as they age and confront medical challenges, physical incapacity, lack of mobility and loneliness.
MCV volunteers provide transportation assistance, friendly home visits and calls, grocery shopping and social activities needed to “age in place.” MCV also coordinates several community-wide events/activities annually to foster social connection among older residents and across generations.
Mill Creek Village’s service area includes the neighborhood of Mill Creek Towne on both sides of Shady Grove Road, with nearly 800 residences. The Village includes the townhouses on Mill Run Drive and the houses on Mill Crest Drive and Mill Crest Court.
All residents in this MCV service area may:
(1) Participate in MCV community events held throughout the year;
(2) Request MCV service assistance for elderly household members;
(3) Subscribe to the MCV monthly newsletter;
(4) Serve as a MCV volunteer; and
(5) Support MCV with a financial or in-kind donation.

Mill Creek Village Board Members Plan for 2026
Happy Holidays from Mill Creek Village Board Members! On Tuesday, December 9th, the Mill Creek Village Board members met for their monthly meeting. We have some exciting events planned for 2026, including our first event in January – our annual Games Night! Our board members plan our upcoming community events for the year, coordinate budgets and supplies for upcoming programs, distribute event flyers, and develop new community programs.
Mill Creek Village has served since 2013 as a charitable 501 c (3) organization community service organization assisting elderly neighbors in Mill Creek Towne. Mill Creek Village services include transportation support, grocery shopping, friendly home visits, check-in phone contacts, and technical assistance. MCV also fosters community-wide, intergenerational social connection via several annual events such as our picnic, ice cream social, and Walk Around the Towne. Unlike other most senior villages across the country, Mill Creek Village does not require dues from its patrons, never has charged fees for its services and programs, nor ever had the assistance of paid professional staff.
We invite our neighbors to learn how to become new members of the board, volunteer for our social committee, or provide much needed volunteer services. See below for details on our volunteer opportunities.
The good work of Mill Creek Village is made possible by caring, community-minded neighbors who give their time, energy, and thoughtfulness to serve as Village volunteers. There is an array of volunteer opportunities in both service and administrative capacities. These include the following:
-- Board of Directors
-- Social Committee
-- Volunteer Coordinators
-- Drivers
-- Friendly Visitors/Callers
-- Grocery Shoppers
-- Technology Assistants
-- Electronic Newsletter Editors
-- Database Managers
-- Website Administrators
-- Facebook Page Moderator
-- Spanish and Asian Language Interpreters
If you have the skills and experience needed for one or more of the above roles and are interested in becoming part of this amazing support team for your community, we would love to hear from you. The time commitment varies by position but normally requires no more than 2-10 hours per month. With this call for volunteers, we hope to identify more than one person in certain roles who share the assignment.
If you are interested in volunteering or learning more about our volunteer opportunities, please contact us through any of the following:
MCV Website: www.millcreekvillage.org/volunteer/
Email: mctvillage@gmail.com
Phone: 240-686-5870
We will then be in touch with additional information and get the ball rolling on your engagement. We truly welcome your support to help us keep Mill Creek Towne a caring and connected community in which to live, raise families and age well. Thanks!
