As a nonprofit organization, MCV is governed by federal IRS and Maryland state regulations on what it can accept from donors and what it can do in return for those donations. To comply with its service mandate and these rules, Mill Creek Village (MCV) welcomes sponsorships from its business neighbors, subject to the following guidelines.

MCV’s Sponsorship Guidelines:

  1. MCV solicits and gratefully accepts corporate sponsorships as a mutually-beneficial exchange in which Mill Creek Village receives cash or in-kind donation from a sponsor to support its community service work and the sponsor receives acknowledgement(s) of its support in return.
  2. MCV chooses which sponsorships it will accept and reserves the right to reject any sponsorship offer.
  3. MCV does not accept advertising.
  4. MCV does not endorse—either explicitly or implicitly—any of its sponsors, nor does it endorse those sponsors’ products, services, or ideas. Mill Creek Village will not place in its communication vehicles qualitative or comparative descriptions of a sponsor’s products, services, facility or company (as this would be considered a “substantial return benefit” by the IRS).  All sponsor acknowledgements will specifically carry a disclaimer stating that: “MCV sincerely appreciates the support of its sponsors, but this acknowledgment is not in any way an endorsement of those sponsors, their products, services or ideas.”
  5. MCV will not provide a hyperlink to any sponsor on its website Sponsors page.
  6. MCV has no control over opinions, either positive or negative, held by neighbors about donors or sponsors and therefore cannot be held responsible for those opinions.
  7. MCV retains full control of its work, program, and content. Sponsors do not have authority over MCV operations in any way.
  8. MCV retains the right to review and approve all communications regarding a sponsorship. This includes—but is not limited to—announcements, articles, social media postings and press releases about the sponsorship.
